Post Office "Town Meeting"       Scheduled

FEASIBILITY STUDY:  As a College Hill Resident you probably received this study.  Please, Please fill it out and return it promptly.  We received it today, Wednesday, November 2nd.  Our office will fill it out and put it in Thursday, November 3rd's mail.

No matter what is planned we ALL need to continue the course to STOP any closure at  ALL COST!!!!!

We truly appreciate EVERYONE doing THEIR PART.

For the meeting carpool.  Check with your friends and neighbors to see if they need rides.  Let's do everything that we can do to get to that meeting. Let nothing deter us from this endeavor!!!!!

-----------------------------------------------

After months of wondering if we would get a chance to be heard ~ we've been advised that we will.  On
Tuesday, November 15th at 6:30 PM, at the College Hill Recreation Center, there will be a "Town Meeting".  This "Town Meeting" will be to discuss the possible closing of the College Hill Post Office.

Post Office Officials will be in attendance to present their views and to get input from the community.

It is VITAL that all of College Hill turns out to show our support for keeping the post office in College Hill.

Obviously the petitions that have been signed, and submitted, by many of you have been helpful in showing our concern.  A LARGE turnout, of visible concerned residents is even more effective!!!!!!!!!!!

-----------------------------------------------

Have you signed a petition?  Have you passed the petition on in your area/business/home?  Have you done as much as you can?

We are awaiting a date and time but must remain vigilant.  Until then Thank You All ~ If No One Else Has Said It!

According to the office of Steve Chabot this is NOT a done deal.  There will be a hearing that will be open  to the public.  No date or time has been revealed as of today!

Also, any legal resident of Hamilton County can sign the petition!

And as previously reported ~ please know that Hartman & Erhrmantraut CPAs will provide you with as many of these blank petitions, as you would like.  Please feel free to take them and have them signed in your neighborhood ~ or anywhere else in College Hill that you can cover.

Let's get all of the signatures that are possible!

In the meantime please remember to sign the petitions in the community.  Again, they are located at the following locations:

Please remember, since the perception is that we do NOT use our Post Office enough ~ foot traffic would dispel that!!!!

There's More Coming!!!!

Q ~~> I live in an apartment building with about 50-70 units and we have no emergency phone #/contact.  When the office manager leaves all we can do is leave a message on the office phone if we have an emergency.  When the manager gets back in the next day is when the emergency is handled.  And, if it's a weekend then it's on Monday.  Is it legal to have no emergency phone #/contact in a building this big?

Update to the residents question:  Is it legal to not have an emergency number available to the tenants in this College Hill apartment complex?

Aiken Falcons Alive with
   Football Fever

The week of October 10th was Spirit Week at Aiken College & Career High School and school spirit was running high. Staff and students were given the opportunity to dress in theme clothing each day of the week. Two of the most popular themes were Nerd Day and Twin Day.  Another popular feature of the week was the Baby Picture Contest.   Staff members were invited to bring in a baby picture and students had to guess which staff member went with each picture. Thursday evening was the Homecoming game, which brought a hard fought victory to the Falcons. The week ended with the Homecoming dance on Friday evening at Pleasant Hill Academy.   Tyrone Thomas and Khadaijah Ferrell were crowned Homecoming King and Queen. Principal Dr. Blair, and Assistant Principal, Dr. Jones-Parks were extremely proud to receive congratulatory notes on the dance organization and the behavior of the Aiken students.

The Aiken Falcons went for their third win in a row on Friday, October 21st as they played their last home game at Stargel Stadium for the 2011-2012 football season AND WON!!! PictureWorld Cruise 2d are the Falcons "ready for some FOOTBALL-L-L-L"; and

senior offensive linemen; Chris Townsend, Courtney Cole, and Dante Dawson. Senior students and their parents from all fall sports will be honored at the game.

A special honorarium was paid to the memory of Wallace Scott, a College Hill resident and Aiken football and baseball athlete, who was tragically killed in an automobile accident last summer. Wallace's parents were recognized at the game.

College Hill Housing Redevelopment Update

Working in Neighborhoods (WIN) continues to make steady progress in revitalizing housing along the Cedar Avenue corridor and College Hill. A total of 12 properties have been acquired as of this date. Three have been sold, and now, one more is finished and for sale. The remaining eight are in various stages of development. Progress continues to be good, and WIN is continuing the hard work associated with lining up funding, volunteers, bid processes, awarding the bids to qualified contractors, monitoring the work as it progresses, and finally, completing the sale. All of this visible effort is being matched with WIN's organized approach to finding eligible homebuyers and providing basic training in home ownership.

Muse Presents One World Many Voices

The World Choir Games are coming to Cincinnati and MUSE welcomes these international choristers to our city. Together we'll revel in the sounds brought here from around the globe. The November MUSE concerts will bring a little of that flavor here to our beloved rehearsal home - St. John’s Unitarian Universalist Church. You may get a buzz from some of our repertoire. MUSE launches our own fair trade coffee blend, so we'll sing about a caffeine overload (it's a polka). On Sunday the special added feature will be the Women's Chorus from Indian Hill High School under the direction of Deborah Centers.

If you want to hear music that makes you feel connected to other people, makes you feel like reaching out to the sounds and life stories of friends in our global village, then please join us. MUSE sings music that touches, excites, agitates, heals, and inspires. You'll get all of that and more.

Concert Facts:

Saturday, November 12th at 7:30 PM

Sunday, November 13th at 3:00 PM

McAuleyans Volunteer at Purple Stride for Pancreatic Cancer

The first Purple Stride to raise money and awareness of pancreatic cancer was held on October 1st, at LunkenAirport. The McAuley community was well represented as part of the over 900 people at this inaugural event. Mrs. Patty Thomas, who is a library aide and study hall proctor, was in charge of registration and members of McAuley's Key Club helped with the event. Some students painted faces on children, some gave out water to the participants, and some were cheerleaders on a very cold a drizzly morning.
