We missed getting an article in last week's issue about the rescheduled Aiken Open House, which is TONIGHT.  Read about it below ...

We'll do a "regular" issue later this week.

Aiken Open House Rescheduled for Tonight (Tuesday)

Aiken FalconAiken College & Career High School sent us this poem:

The WIND blew our world around a bit,
And caused inconvenience, we must admit.
Many things canceled, others were late,
But we're now ready to set a new OPEN HOUSE date.

Aiken invites the everyone in the community to a celebration of its "effective"  rating.  Our celebration honors all the staff, parents, students, and community members who made it happen.

Meet at the Aiken dining hall from 6:30 to 8:30 pm, TONIGHT (Tuesday) September 30, for awards recognition, entertainment, door prizes and light refreshments.

Student/parent information sessions will follow.

See following article for something you can bring to the party.
Bring Socks to Aiken

The Student Leadership Team at Aiken College and Career High School is sponsoring a sock collection to help the homeless.

SocksStudents will collect new socks at school and at businesses in College Hill until October 16, when both Aiken high schools will hold their first Shantytown event to showcase homelessness in the area.

Popular at many high schools and colleges, "Shantytowns" are overnight, supervised programs in which students sleep outside in cardboard boxes to find out what it's like to be homeless. Teacher sponsors Masrty Kamrani and John Dean expect about 50 students to participate.

Going to the Aiken Open House tonight (see above)? Bring your sock donations then!

Thanks to Karen Barrett at Aiken College and Career High School for this story.

The eNewsletter is published every week or two by the volunteers listed below. Our purpose is to help make College Hill an even better place to live, play and do business by publishing a broad spectrum of news for and about College Hill, with an emphasis on stories of College Hill people working together to improve our community.

The eNewsletter is independently prepared and published by neighborhood volunteers.  It is not affiliated with the College Hill Forum Community Council.

Opinions expressed here are not necessarily those of any College Hill or other organization--or even of the editor. The inclusion of an article is not necessarily an endorsement. The fact that something isn't in the eNewsletter is not necessarily a lack of endorsement--it's most likely because no one told us about it.

eNewsletter photos are often edited to remove extraneous material.

Send us news that you think would be interesting to your College Hill neighbors--and we'll very likely publish it. Email to eNewsletter@CollegeHillOH.net.
