Dear Reader,

I said there wouldn't be an eNewsletter this week, but there's too much news to save for next week. So here is another issue low on photos but chock full of information. Expect more information AND more photos next week.

Are you interested in writing, editing, or entering data or photos for the eNewsletter? We obviously need some help! Email here for information.

Make Noise at the Rhythm Race!

Organizers of the Sept. 20 College Hill Rhythm Race invite you to join the Race Route Rhythm Section.

New this year, the Rhythm Section will line the race route with as many people as possible to blow kazoos, bang drums, shake noisemakers, or otherwise cheer the runners, walkers, and wheelers on.

If you live along the route, stand on your sidewalk. If you don't, click here
and then click on "map" for the route. Be ready to go at 7 pm when the race starts, and be sure to stay until the last participants pass. (And if you want to race, that link will tell you how to register, too.)

For more information or suggestions for prime Rhythm Section spots, email Dave Hawkins here with the subject line "rhythm race." Be sure to let him know where you'd like to stand and what you plan to do so he can coordinate you with others.

Pleasant Hill on TV Monday

Tune in to CET Monday and you'll see Pleasant Hill Academy in Where We Stand, a documentary on the state of schools in America.

Pleasant Hill Principal Cherese Clark says a segment of the program will highlight the school's Teacher Advancement Program (TAP). See a preview here.

The program airs at 10 pm Sept. 15.

Thanks to Pleasant Hill Academy for this story.
Weight Watchers Group Forming

A Weight Watchers group forming in College Hill wants you!

At least 15 members are needed for a group, and many are already signing up to meet weekly at the College Hill Coffee Co. Meetings will be on a weekday morning or late afternoon. Sessions last 12 weeks.

Coffee Co. owner Tina Stoeberl asks all interested to email her here with your name, a first and second choice for a meeting day, and whether you prefer mornings or afternoons.

Sign Up Now for McAuley Preschool

McAuley High School's free preschool starts October 9.

The morning classes meet once a week for ten weeks and are taught by McAuley students, under the supervision of child development class teacher Diane Gibson.

To enroll you child, call Diane Gibson at (513) 681-1800 x 2275.
LaBoiteaux Woods Adds Adult Art Class

Children's nature art classes have been popular for many years at LaBoiteaux Woods, but now adults have the chance to study art at the nature preserve.

Teacher Mary Provosty will teach a plein air class for adults this fall in dry and wet media. They will work outdoors whenever the weather permits. All experience levels are welcome and all supplies are covered in the $40 fee.

Class will meet for four hours on three fall days (Oct. 18, 25, Nov. 1). For information on this or children's art classes, call 542-2009.
A Look at Two WIN Houses

The two houses on Salvia (left) and Cedar Avenues (right) being built by Working in Neighborhoods (WIN) are going up fast!

Do you know of any interested buyers? A grant will help low-income buyers get these new, energy efficient houses at the price of an older home in the area -- helping the whole neighborhood in the process.

For information on these and two more houses being built or renovated in College Hill, call 513-541-4109.

Free Trees from the City

The Cincinnati ReLeaf Program will give free trees to city residents who register by Sept. 27.

Five trees are available (Forest Pansy Redbud, Sugartyme Crabapple, Pacific Sunset Shantung Maple, Skyline Honeylocust, and Homestead Elm); Urban Foresters will help you choose the plant and site that works best for your property.

All trees must be planted on City property within 30 feet of the right-of-way, and must be visible from the street. For information call 861-8669 or send an email here.

The eNewsletter is published every week or two by the volunteers listed below. Our purpose is to help make College Hill an even better place to live, play and do business by publishing a broad spectrum of news for and about College Hill, with an emphasis on stories of College Hill people working together to improve our community.

The eNewsletter is independently prepared and published by neighborhood volunteers.  It is not affiliated with the College Hill Forum Community Council.

Opinions expressed here are not necessarily those of any College Hill or other organization--or even of the editor. The inclusion of an article is not necessarily an endorsement. The fact that something isn't in the eNewsletter is not necessarily a lack of endorsement--it's most likely because no one told us about it.

eNewsletter photos are often edited to remove extraneous material.

Send us news that you think would be interesting to your College Hill neighbors--and we'll very likely publish it. Email to eNewsletter@CollegeHillOH.net.
