Dear Reader,

With Co-Editor Ken Lyon out of town, Your Faithful Correspondent has been overwhelmed by Easter. Not in a good, spiritual sense, but in a Charlie Brown "ARRRRRRRGH!" sort of sense.

So while there is a great deal of news, this is a short and late newsletter with only the most timely of stories for your reading pleasure.

Expect a longer one next week. And in the meantime, check out the free weekly CityBeat newspaper. This week is a "best of" issue and College Hill is mentioned prominently.

But more on that next week...

Gail Finke, Co-Editor

College Hill Wine Honored at Krohn Conservatory

A local wine will be one of several showcased at Krohn Conservatory Friday.

chip emmerichOhio Wine Tasting: A Tribute to Nicholas Longworth is one of several special events celebrating the conservatory's 75th birthday. Cincinnati luminary Nicholas Longworth grew grapes here for wine, and the tradition has never completely vanished.

North College Hill resident Chip Emmerich's award-winning Purple Trillium wine will be featured along with wines from Ripley, Bethel, Westwood, Morrow, Madisonville, Colerain Township, and Silverton. (We know he lives in NCH, but the Enquirer gave him to us in their story so we'll claim him just this once.)

Read about Chip's Burnet Ridge Winery here.

Corrections

We need to post corrected hours for two places featured in recent issues.

First, we inadvertently added a day to the Linden Park Sales Center schedule. It is open:

Thursdays    5 - 7 pm
Saturdays    1- 4 pm
Sundays    1 - 4 pm

Second, we posted last year's hours for Hamilton County Hazardous Waste Collection Site on Spring Grove Avenue at the foot of Winton Road:

It site is open only on Tuesday (2-6 pm) and Saturday (9 am - 1 pm).

It is for residential waste only, and you must bring proof of residency. See a list of what is accepted here.
Patio Homes Event at Twin Towers

Linden Park condominiums aren't the only housing available in College Hill. Twin Towers invites you to see its newly renovated patio homes at a Progressive Lunch March 27.

The complex's South Ridge Patio Homes are being redesignes as well as renovated, according to Director of Marketing Katharina Schulten. Kitchens and bathrooms have been completely remodeled. New flooring, cabinets, and lighting inside complement the new roofs. trim, and landscaping outside.

"Times have changed. and we want to be certain we stay current with what the market is demanding," Katharina says.

The Progressive Lunch starts at 11 am and will take you through several remodeled homes. Call (513) 853-2001 for reservations.

Aiken Thanks College Hill

For the third year in a row, Aiken College and Career High School held a special awards breakfast -- this one for the community, not the students.

"The successes we have enjoyed over the past couple of years are due largely to the interest and support of those in this room.," School Community Coordinator Karen Barrett told the attendees at the Annual Community Appreciation Breakfast, March 1. "We love our 'kids' and we appreciate the fact that you do too".

Plaques of honor were presented to special honorees, including Superintendent Rosa Blackwell and representatives from UC and General Electric. College Hill honorees were:

Amy Finnegan, the College Hill Forum
Ron Cowgill, the College Hill Summit
Valerie Herschberger, the College Hill Summit
Tina Stoeberl, The College Hill Coffee Co

Principal Eric Thomas closed the program with words of appreciation and an invitation to remain actively involved with the school to ensure future achievement and success.

The eNewsletter is published every week or two by the volunteers listed below. Our purpose is to help make College Hill an even better place to live, play and do business by publishing a broad spectrum of news for and about College Hill, with an emphasis on stories of College Hill people working together to improve our community.

The eNewsletter is independently prepared and published by neighborhood volunteers.  It is not affiliated with the College Hill Forum Community Council.

Opinions expressed here are not necessarily those of any College Hill or other organization--or even of the editor. The inclusion of an article is not necessarily an endorsement. The fact that something isn't in the eNewsletter is not necessarily a lack of endorsement--it's most likely because no one told us about it.

eNewsletter photos are often edited to remove extraneous material.

Send us news that you think would be interesting to your College Hill neighbors--and we'll very likely publish it.
