Dear Reader,

Oops! Much as your editor hates to admit mistakes, she made two in recent weeks.
  • The story on the Visconti & Lechler Pharmacy closing called Joe Lechler's daughter the wrong name. Her name is Mary.
  • Last week's story about the commercial filmed at John and Nancy Zint's house listed the wrong street. It is Bellair Place.
There's a lot of arts activity going on this week, including an unusual evening of books and music at the Coffee Co. and two College Hill girls in a Cincinnati Ballet performance. The Superchoir, which rehearses here, will be featured on Channel 5 news, and you can buy tickets now for the March 9 ARCH "Bridge Over the Atlantic" concert. It sold out last time, so don't miss your chance!

There's a lot more news below. Have a happy Valentines Day, and as always, if you have news for us, send it here. We'd love to hear from you.

Have You Seen This Dog?

Winston the Dog

Sheltered Paws Dog Rescue is looking for this dog, last seen in the Mt. Airy/College Hill area.

Winston is a hound mix recently adopted from the rescue organization. He is neutered, about three years old, and when lost was wearing a green collar with a green rabies vaccine tag. His backside is shaved due to a veterinary treatment.

If you have seen or found this dog, please call Susan Purvis at 513-541-5583.

Your "Bridge Over the Atlantic 2" Ticket is Waiting

Bridge Over the Atlantic TicketTickets for the "Bridge Over the Atlantic 2" concert are now available. The Arts Revival of College Hill (ARCH) is hosting an arts "double feature" Sunday, March 9, at the College Hill Presbyterian Church.
  • Feature #1 is a dynamite concert by two Brits and one Yank--Brits Michael Weston King and his wife, Lou Dalgleish, and local favorites Dave Hawkins and his excellent backup band. You'll hear vocal, string and piano music steeped in a rich British, Irish and American heritage, performed by established artists with followings in their own countries.

Don't miss this encore performance. Their first collaboration was sold out!

  • Feature #2 is the public premier of the Glimmers of Hope photo essay by professional photographer Barry Carlin. Glimmers of Hope is a gallery show of high-resolution photos of Hurricane Katrina's aftermath, presented with masterfully written narratives.

The show is appropriate for grade school children to seniors. Doors open at 6 pm for the 6:30 pm show. Proceeds go to arts projects in College Hill. Tickets will be $20 at the door but are available now for $15 at the College Hill Coffee Co.

For information call Kate Weldishofer at 513-681-4210 or email her here.

Cincinnati Police Arrest Suspect in Beating

It took fewer than two days for Cincinnati Police to arreste a suspect in the beating and robbery of an 84-year-old College Hill woman.

The victim lives in Center Hill Apartments on North Bend Road. These apartments are located in that long finger of College Hill that extends east on North Bend Road into Finneytown.

The robbery took place last Monday. On Wednesday, police arrested a 39-year-old woman they suspect was after money to buy drugs. She was robbing another elderly man at the time.

The SuperChoir, which rehearses in College Hill and performs around the city, is one of nine choirs singing in Cincinnati's "Clash of the Choirs."

Videos of all the choirs can be seen here.  Like the big-name version of the show won by Cincinnati's Team Lachey, the winner will be chosen by popular vote. In the meantime you can see the choir sing "Over My Head" here as well as vote for your favorite choir.

P. Ann Everson-PriceThe SuperChoir is directed by singer and WMOJ radio personality P. Ann Everson-Price.

For more information, or to schedule a choir performance, call her at 513-236-9589.
Be a Crimefighter: A Tip from the CHBA

The College Hill Business Association reminds us to report crimes or suspicious behavior, no matter how minor. They tell us that neighborhoods where people don't report crime become neighborhoods where criminals gather.

Our calls help police monitor and document trouble spots. If you report something or someone suspicious, your report may be help an ongoing investigation.

Here's where to call:
  • For emergencies, call 911.
  • For non-emergency reports, call 513-765-1212. Examples of non-emergency calls are littering, loitering or suspicious behavior. If you can't get through on that number, call District 5 at 513-568-8500.

In any case, be specific with your description and your location and give your name. The type of response will depend on the information you give, so again, BE SPECIFIC.

The eNewsletter is published every week or two by the volunteers listed below. Our purpose is to help make College Hill an even better place to live, play and do business by publishing a broad spectrum of news for and about College Hill, with an emphasis on stories of College Hill people working together to improve our community.

The eNewsletter is independently prepared and published by neighborhood volunteers.  It is not affiliated with the College Hill Forum Community Council.

Opinions expressed here are not necessarily those of any College Hill or other organization--or even of the editor. The inclusion of an article is not necessarily an endorsement. The fact that something isn't in the eNewsletter is not necessarily a lack of endorsement--it's most likely because no one told us about it.

eNewsletter photos are often edited to remove extraneous material.

Send us news that you think would be interesting to your College Hill neighbors--and we'll very likely publish it.
