College Hill Logo

The eNewsletter is published every week or two by the volunteers listed below. Our purpose is to help make College Hill an even better place to live, play and do business by publishing a broad spectrum of news for and about College Hill, with an emphasis on stories of College Hill people working together to improve our community.

Opinions expressed in the eNewsletter are not necessarily those of any College Hill or other organization--or even of the editor. The inclusion of an article is not necessarily an endorsement. The fact that something isn't in the eNewsletter is not necessarily a lack of endorsement--it's most likely because no one told us about it.

Send us interesting tidbits--anything that you think would be interesting to your College Hill neighbors-- and we'll very likely publish them.

Dear Ken Lyon,

This is a special "heads-up" issue of the eNewsletter, just between us folks. The announcement couldn't be made until today, but now it's OK to spread the word around by clicking on "Forward this eNewsletter to a Friend" at the bottom of this page.

Your editor is taking some time off to vacation in the UK. For the next three weeks, Gail Finke, a frequent contributor to these pages, will be the editor. Be sure to send your eNewsletter contributions to eNewsletter@collegehillohio.org so they get to her.

Sobriety Checkpoint in College Hill Tonight
Checkpoint Ahead

Here's a heads-up from Forum President Elizabeth Sherwood: "The Ohio State Highway Patrol and District Five are partnering with the College Hill Forum and Citizens on Patrol for a Sobriety Checkpoint tonight--Friday, November 3.

"Jim Bodmer is spearheading the COP involvement. COP members will assist at the checkpoint. The Kroger building may be used to process arrestees.

"This is good for the neighborhood, not just for the obvious reasons, but because car searches often result in the discovery of guns and drugs. Also, the large-scale presence of law enforcement typically scares off criminals for a week or so afterward."

DWI Checkpoint

In today's news release, the Ohio Partrol said, "The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Georgetown Post, in conjunction with the Cincinnati Police Department and the College Hill Forum and the College Hill Citizens on Patrol, announced today that an OVI checkpoint will be held from 11:00pm tonight to 3:00am Saturday morning at the east and north intersections of North Bend Road and Hamilton Avenue.

"The OVI checkpoint, funded by fines from impaired drivers and other federal funding, is planned to deter and intercept impaired drivers this weekend.

"The checkpoint will also be held in conjunction with nearby saturation patrols to aggressively combat alcohol related injury and fatal crashes.

"If you plan to consume alcohol, designate a driver or make other travel arrangements before you drink. Don’t let another life be lost for the senseless and selfish act of getting behind the wheel impaired."
